A night in Park City

We love our friends. Our new ones, our old ones, each others, and we especially love mixing them together.
Last night we went up to Park City for dinner at the Windy Ridge Cafe (great goat cheese pizza), roamed around Main Street, and hot tubbed at my parents.
I love how lively it is up there during Sundance time.

Okay..I am a little bit obsessed.

I know everyone thinks this about their own, but I have the cutest nieces and nephews in the world!
I about died over these pictures of little Luke...and once again CANNOT WAIT FOR THEM TO MOVE TO SLC THIS SUMMER!! (Now I just need my other siblings to jump on the band wagon!)

Fight For Your Life

Yesterday Josh and I decided to go to a kick boxing class since we can't go to the gym in the morning on Wednesdays. He came home and told me he had found the perfect place, so we got dressed and on our way.
We drove through some interesting neighborhoods and ended up really in the middle of nowhere. Low and behold only a couple minutes later I see a sign that says "Fight For Your Life Boxing and Fitness."
I was a little nervous stepping out of the car and in to this unfamiliar place... especially after expecting a normal kick boxing class at the usual gym.
I kept laughing because this place was SO Josh to me. And of course he took me to a real boxing class, where I learned what a left hook is and got to practice shifting my weight the right way while punching a bag.
The instructor was so impressed with Josh, he even called his push ups "The money push ups."
For me, it was a good/funny experience. For Josh, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Once again...we love where we live

We don't go on walks without at least five minutes of pondering on how much we love our neighborhood.
The plan last night was to walk to Sawadee for some Thai food, but when we saw it was mysteriously closed when we arrived, we somehow ended up at Wingers instead!
It was my first time there and I have to say...I was SO impressed with the sauce on their wings. Wow.

Flowrider

My husband has a small obsession with Flowrider. I think it's the California boy in him.
I have had some bad experiences there (losing my ring the night before the wedding!), but I still like it.
Kelsen (our nephew who just moved here from California) and his girlfriend came with us last time!
No mishaps this time, except I did land directly on both of my knees causing immediate bruising...hot.

Family ski day

Every year after getting on the mountain for the first time, I remember how much I love it.
Yesterday, although windy, was an exceptionally fun ski day.
I loved being surrounded by some of the people I love the most enjoying one of God's greatest creations.
Nothing like a good ski day makes me appreciate how blessed we are to live in this beautiful place.
I am a little bummed Josh and I didn't invest in season passes... definitely learned our lesson for next year!

South Africa

Before Josh and I got married, we decided to wait on immediately going on a honeymoon. Instead, we are headed to South Africa right when school gets out!
I am starting to get really excited...although I am leaving the planning to him (which is totally not in my nature)..
Anyway, here are some pictures that got my giddy today!

Date night

After a LONG day at the Thanksgiving Point bridal show, Josh was nice enough to come help us take things down and take me out on a date afterwards.
We went to Color Me Mine and I struggled to justify how expensive it is to paint....so we went to Red Butte and a movie instead.
It is so interesting how much less I feel like we see each other now that we're married! It makes us appreciate the time we do have so much more. We were giddy all night. I am reminded every day how lucky I am to have this man in my life. He is everything and more I have ever dreamed of!

A couple things...
We are pretty excited over here about how long Josh's hair is getting. He even has little "wings" when he wears hats! (hard to see in this picture)
He is such a little tech nerd! I looked over while we were waiting for our food at dinner and he was not only playing with his phone, but mine too..
I have had such strong cravings lately (NO I am not pregnant). I basically had the chef create my own dish based after the veggie flat bread at Porcupine.

Welcome to the world baby Luke!

My oldest sister Chelsea recently had her fourth (and last) child.
I am so excited to meet this little guy...can you believe how adorable he is?!!
Such a little sweetie too I hear..

The skinny-ing doesn't stop

The other day Josh called to me from our bedroom...this is what I saw when I walked in there.
With a little smirk on his face he said "Okay, pick all the ones you don't like."
Apparently he got sick of me making fun of him (lovingly of course!) due to some of pretty outdated ties.
He was left with maybe half...
So, the search began for more up to date, but still professional looking ties.

For Josh and my wedding, we skinny-ed all the ties for the groomsmen and my mom even made bow ties for the dads and grandpas. They all turned out well and we were pleasantly surprised with how simple it is!
Well, it has changed my perspective on ties. Instead of spending a fortune on new ties, we find good looking ones at Deseret Industries (there are so many..and great brands!) and skinny them a little bit to make them a little more modern.
Here is a short overview of how it is done:
Using a seam ripper to get started, gently open the back of the tie.
Pull the liner out of the bottom and mark with a pencil about the width you are happy with. Cut the liner and put it back where it was.
You may want to cut a little fabric from each side before folding the sides over and pinning it where you want it.
Stitch the back up cautiously to not pierce through the front of the tie.
Steam the tie depending on the fabric.
There you have it. $1.00 ties that look brand new!
(if you are wanting to try it out, let me know and I will give better direction and a few tips..)

So here's the deal

I got a job working for Talons Cove doing design and wedding coordination.
We had a Bridal Show today and yesterday at the Salt Palace, so it has been quite a busy week.
We have another one at Thanksgiving Point next weekend, so I have a feeling next week won't be much different, especially with school starting (and my other job) as well!
It has been a lot of fun so far and the people I work with are so awesome. I am excited to see how it goes!

Warby Parker

This. Is. Amazing.
I have been needing another pair of glasses, since mine never seem to be where I need them at the time.. I am nervous I might give my husband a heart attack every time he drives with me.
Anyway, Warby Parker is what I am currently amazed with. They let you "virtually try on" their frames, since it is only an online store. ALL of their frames are $95 including prescription and shipping. Also, it's kinda like Toms in the way of "you buy one, we give one away to someone in need.."
Win win, right?!

Joe's birthday dinner

Josh's (and now my) nephew Joe had a birthday yesterday, so we went down to Provo to celebrate with him and some other Jones'.
Josh has such an amazing family, I am so happy to be a part of it!
PS. Have you ever seen a more happy kid?!
